IAALS’ 16th Annual Rebuilding Justice Award Dinner was held on Thursday, April 25, at the History Colorado Center in Denver. We celebrated the 2024 Rebuilding Justice Award and Alli Gerkman Legal Visionary Award honorees, and everyone who has joined together with IAALS to clear a path to justice for all.
As part of our Redesigning Legal Speaker Series, IAALS and its partners will explore how lawyers, justice workers, and state bars are leading the charge against legal deserts.
On March 7, IAALS and The Chicago Bar Foundation delved into the root causes of access to justice issues for the middle class, featuring leaders who have successfully launched promising legal service delivery models.
On February 27, IAALS and The Chicago Bar Foundation examined the widespread access to justice crisis—which extends beyond low-income individuals to heavily impact the middle class and small businesses—and showcased how the newly launched Above the Line Network can bridge the gap for affordable legal services.
On February 1 at 11 a.m. MT, IAALS hosted "The Role of Allied Legal Professionals: Systems Change and How the Healthcare Industry Succeeded in Expanding Career Paths," the second of two webinars examining the shifting dynamics in legal services provision and advocating for an inclusive and consumer-focused approach to legal reforms.
On January 25, IAALS hosted "Legal Services Evolution: Comparing the Roles of Allied Legal Professionals and Federal Accredited Representatives," the first of two webinars examining the shifting dynamics in legal services provision and advocating for an inclusive and consumer-focused approach to legal reforms.
This national convening focused on current issues and challenges surrounding the development of non-exam pathways to legal licensure. IAALS brought together thought leaders and changemakers to collaborate and ideate on ways to create cohesion across states’ efforts, best practices in developing and implementing new pathways, and recommendations for the future of legal licensure.
We believe the regulatory innovation movement is now at a point where we can come together and share lessons learned and recommendations for launching and sustaining regulatory innovation. This convening is an opportunity to further this momentum and create an initial set of recommendations for launching and sustaining regulatory innovation.

As part of our Redesigning Legal Speaker Series, IAALS and its partners examined the various legal service providers beyond lawyers who help people with their legal problems, and discussed why it will take this entire ecosystem to fully tackle the access to justice crisis.
This convening provided a venue for experts and national partners to develop recommendations and best practices for states developing allied legal professional programs. IAALS will publish and disseminate the results as well as a framework for a new national model for allied legal professionals based on best practices.
